Signs of freight damage

If you have any questions please contact us at 888.289.1952

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IN PURCHASING A TOOLBOX IS PROPERLY INSPECTING YOUR SHIPMENT.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS PAGE THOROUGHLY FOR YOUR PROTECTION.

The freight carrier's terms and conditions clearly state that you are unable to inspect your shipment unless there are signs of damage to the exterior packaging. Signs of damage can be as simple as a tear in the shrink wrap or a broken pallet. You will always be able to find scuff or mark on the packaging somewhere that will allow you to inspect your shipment. If you have any issues with your freight driver not allowing inspection, call us immediately at 888-289-1952 and we will speak to him/her personally to arrange your inspection.

Please click here for a more detailed description and images of SIGNS OF DAMAGE.

Schedule a delivery appointment with your freight carrier.

Step 1. Schedule a delivery appointment with your freight carrier.

Once your toolbox is in transit and traceable on your respective freight carriers website you will be able to call your local terminal and schedule a delivery appointment.

Once you call your freight carrier and tell them your tracking number they will give you a date and time for when they can make your delivery.

All residential deliveries will require a delivery appointment.

Commercial deliveries do not require a delivery appointment but it is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED that you do so to ensure your shipment will receive a proper inspection. 80-90% of all damaged freight that is signed for is done by a co worker that was available and unaware of our freight inspection process while the proper consignee was away.

Be prepared to receive your shipment.

Step 2. Be prepared to receive your shipment.

Freight carrier drivers typically have 7-15 min to make a delivery. To make the inspection process go as smoothly as possible, please have the tools listed below available as soon as your toolbox reaches the pavement.

  • BOX CUTTER
  • TIN SNIPS
  • WORK GLOVES
  • CAMERA
  • CELL PHONE - In case of damage please call us immediately at 888-289-1952

Note: The images for Step 3 and Step 4 show how a tool box looks when it leaves our warehouse. We ship every toolbox on new pallet, if your tool box arrives on a used or damaged pallet it could be a sign of shipping damage.

Visually inspect the outer packaging for damage.

Step 3. Visually inspect the outer packaging for damage.

Please make note of any damage to the cardboard packaging before removing. If you notice severe damage on the outer packaging such as:

  • THE BOX IS CAVING IN
  • HOLES CREATED BY A FORKLIFT
  • ANY EXPOSED METAL
  • If you see any damage at this point STOP - NOTE THE DAMAGE ON THE BILL OF LADING and CONTINUE YOUR INSPECTION

***If possible write on the bill of lading yourself. If the driver insists on being the one to write on the bill of lading initial his notes showing that you agree with them. If you do not agree with the drivers notes do not sign the bill of lading.***

Remove banding straps.

Step 4. Remove banding straps.

With your TIN SNIPS begin cutting each banding strap that is holding the toolbox into the pallet. Now you can remove the clear banding straps the hold the cardboard to the toolbox.

If you see any damage at this point STOP - NOTE THE DAMAGE ON THE BILL OF LADING and CONTINUE YOUR INSPECTION

***If possible write on the bill of lading yourself. If the driver insists on being the one to write on the bill of lading initial his notes showing that you agree with them. If you do not agree with the drivers notes do not sign the bill of lading.***

Remove the cardboard box from roller cabinet and top chest.

Step 5. Remove the cardboard box from roller cabinet and top chest.

At this point the cardboard packaging protecting your toolbox can be lifted straight up off the toolbox. Once removed please set the cardboard box off to the side.

If you see any damage at this point STOP - NOTE THE DAMAGE ON THE BILL OF LADING and CONTINUE YOUR INSPECTION

Remove plastic lining.

Step 6. Remove plastic lining.

Although the lining is a thin clear plastic it is extremely important that it is completely removed before accepting your shipment. The plastic bag and shrink wrap can easily hide dents and dings that can occur during shipping. Once removed inspect your toolbox on each side thoroughly for any dents or scratches.

Additional packaging materials including cardboard corners and a composite top will be present. Please remove and set them aside.

If you see any damage at this point STOP - REFUSE THE DELIVERY and CALL US IMMEDIATELY

Signing for your shipment.

Step 7. Signing for your shipment.

When you sign the bill of lading you are signing an agreement with the freight company that states that you or an authorized representative has thoroughly inspected the shipment. That you are receiving it without damage and are waiving any rights to file a freight claim.

All products that arrive via common carrier freight must be inspected prior to signing for the product. If your product does arrive with damage YOU MUST REFUSE DELIVERY and note the damage on the bill of lading. THIS IS NECESSARY FOR YOUR PROTECTION although the responsibility is with the carrier, please notify and contact StrictlyToolBoxes.com immediately so that we may be of some assistance. Once you accept damaged freight StrictlyToolBoxes.com will be unable to help you with a freight claim.

5 Year Limited Warranty

All Tool Vault® toolboxes have a Limited 5-Year Warranty to the original user against defects in workmanship and material under normal use. This Limited 5-Year Warranty does not apply to products that have been misused, abused, damaged by accident or otherwise, subjected to abnormal use, used in any type of over the road use, or modified by anyone other than Strictly Tool Boxes. Tool Vault®

With 20 years experience in the professional automotive tool and equipment industry, we have seen many companies come and go. It is our commitment to providing the highest quality products and outstanding customer service that ensures our company stands out from the rest.

Strictly Tool Boxes chooses to work with only a few tool box manufacturers because they have proven their ability to deliver a high quality product at a fair price. We have removed many vendors from our site for various reasons. The primary reason we stopped working with certain manufacturers was low product quality.

We are certain many of you have noticed the trend for tool box manufacturers to make the products with thinner steel every year. For certain light duty home applications, these lower end products may work fine. However, for the automotive professional or a serious do-it-yourselfer, we found that these products cannot hold up.

If you have questions regarding products, or if you do not see the brand you have questions about on our site, give us a call at 888.289.1952. Because of our vast experience in the professional automotive tool and equipment business, we have seen and worked with most brands currently on the market. We will be happy to help in whatever way we can.

small engine mechanic

I purchased this box Oct. of 2013. I could not be any happier with this tool box, the drawers work flawlessly and the quality is comparable to all the big name brand boxes. I have plenty of room for my tools and I have space left to finish filling it up,so if you want to spend 3 to 4 times as much go ahead and buy a big truck brand, but you will not find the others to be any better than this box and these guys are awesome to deal with...
